Architecture Office is an Edinburgh-based architecture and design studio working across buildings, interiors and objects.

Our work is guided by an interest in simplicity and material character. We seek to create thoughtful, enduring spaces and objects through careful balance of practical requirements, spatial ambition and considered detail. We believe that architecture and design should transcend passing fashions and fleeting trends.

Working across Scotland and the wider UK, we undertake projects of varied scales and types, including private homes, residential extensions, workplaces, retail interiors, temporary installations and furniture. Each project is developed through close collaboration with clients, makers and consultants, combining resourceful architectural design with thoughtful detailing and a tactile approach to materials.

Architecture Office was founded by Alexander Mackison (BArch, DipArch). Alexander studied at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, the Glasgow School of Art and the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. Prior to establishing the office, Alexander worked at Mary Duggan in London, gaining valuable experience across a diverse range of architectural projects.

Architecture Office has been recognised and featured in leading architectural and design publications, both in the UK and internationally. Selected editorial features, interviews and press coverage are listed below.
